Little Mermaid 2 Review
By Alex B
Jan 16, 2009, 22:01

Our family has always been a big fan of Disney movies and the Little Mermaid is one of my favorites.  It was fun watching the Little Mermaid 2 with my 4 year old daughter.  My daughter said she likes Melody better than Ariel, likely due to the newness of the movie and the fact that Melody is the child of Ariel.  The movie kind of represents our family in a lot of ways.  It was nice to see the original characters from the first movie in the second movie.  It was a pleasant surprise to learn that some of the original voices of the original characters were the same, or at least they sounded very similar.

The movie is definitely entertaining and presenting children with valuable lessons.  In the original movie, Ariel did not listen to her father and it got her into trouble.  In the Little Mermaid 2, the tables are turned and now and as a mother she is trying to impose rules that are in Melody's best interest; of course Melody does not listen to her mother and invariably gets herself into trouble.  It's a lesson for both mother and child.  It is a coming of age movie for Ariel as she realizes what it means to try and protect her child and an innocent life lesson for Melody about the consequences when you don't listen to your parents.

Immediately following this movie, my daughter ask
ed to watch the original movie.  This movie is an exciting addition to our Disney movie collection and we are happy to have yet another well done movie we feel comfortable letting the children watch on a regular basis for years to come.
