Teaching Mother : 6-22-06

"Do you ever get overwhelmed with all that you have to do?" What a question, I thought, as the kind lady gazed into my eyes waiting in anticipation for an answer. "I'll have to be honest, " I replied, "Of course, there are times when it seems

I'm spinning in circles, can't get anything done, and I want to have a pity party of my own!"  After venting from reflecting on past frustrations I added, "Maybe I should cast all my burdens on Christ, for he cares for me.  His yoke is easy, his burden is light."   She then continued, "A Mother's work is never done!"  I'll have to say a big "Amen" to that!

My husband, Duane, often reminds me: One day when all the kids have left home out raising their own children, you will long to hear their little feet running in the house, their laughter, and all will be quiet until the knock on the door.  Rushing in the door will be all those Grandbabies!  He's right, we'll be back once again to the hustle & bustle of getting each one a snack, telling them to close the door, wipe their feet, and turn out the light.  Back once again will be all the snuggling on the couch to tell a story or read a book, baking cookies, putting bandid's on boo boo's, and all those sweet hugs & kisses only your children/grandchildren can give.  I'm glad a Mother's work is never done!  There is absolutely nothing that compares to having a close relationship with your family.

So, if or when, we as Mothers might get a little overwhelmed while raising our children, let's remember they won't be young for long, that these times are precious, and God has called us to be Mothers.  Do we really want it to end?  I'll have to say from a Mother's heart....no!

Scriptures to Study:  Proverbs 14:1, The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her hands.  John 14:27, "Peace, I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Recently, on the Discovery Channel they did a story on the Dugger family.  They are a family with 16 children and the oldest one just turned 18 years old!  They went on a month long field trip in an RV out West.  And I thought 4 days to Branson, Mo with the Lyon Cubs was exciting!  I have a few questions I'd like to ask Michelle, the nice Mother!  Like, what about laundry, food, the basics, just to name a few!  But, the family seems to be quite organized, happy, and healthy!  She homeschools too!  What is her phone number???  Probably busy!!!

Lyon Cub Warm Fuzzie of the Week:  After a day at the pool, followed with McDonald's, then a late run to the library, Torah had a big smile on her face as we finally headed back to the Lyon's Den.  She said, "Moma, you're the best, best, best, best, best, best, bestest Moma in the whole wide world!"

Lifestyle Learning in Action: Our 13 year old Jessica, a professional fact finder, told me it was a fact that in an average lifetime we spend two weeks waiting at stop lights! (from the movie Cars)  That is 336 hours!
